Adding a "custom" 50 psi MSI sensor

Sometimes, even AIM forgets to include a "driver" for one of their sensors. What do you do???? Here's an example of how you can add a 50 psi MSI sensor to your MXL Pro (or Mychron3) logger.

0. Be sure to connect your PC to the logger, and that both are powered on.
1. Start Race Studio 2 application
2. Select your logger (MXL Pro in this example) by clicking one of the buttons below
3. Click on "System Manager" toolbar menu option

... Your AIM logger is shown below:

4. click "Channels" button below:

 

5. click "Customize sensor" button

6. Enter the following values:

  • x1[mV] = 450

  • x2[mV] = 4050

  • y1 = 0

  • y2 = 50

7. Click "Compute Curve" button

8. in the field Sensor name, type "MSI 50 PSI"

9. in the field Sensor unit, type "psi"

10. Under "Sensor type," click "Pressure" radio button

11. Save your custom sensor by clicking the "Save sensor" button

12. At this point, select the analog channel where the MSI 50 psi sensor will be connected to, and click on the "Sensor type" field. After clicking on the dropdown arrow, scroll down to the bottom of the list and select your new sensor.

13. Your screen should look something like this:

14. Do not forget to click on "Transmit" in order to save your channel settings on the logger:
